After a night of mediocre performances Tuesday, the preview for last night clearly set the five performers up even before the eliminations took place.

There was nothing surprising about this week's America's Got Talent results except for the fact that America didn’t mind the more flamboyant efforts.

Let's break down how it all played out ...

Eliminations, Part 1: The Rhinestone Ropers, Thomas John, Silhouettes - The Rhinestone Ropers failed because they thought that an animal performance would have been dynamic, but after so many failed bird acts it was inevitable that they would be cut. The fact that there was no dog act this year should have signaled the Ropers not to try the horse. With two X's Thomas John's hopes were pretty slim.

The Silhouettes were through easily. Sure they may have pandered to the American theme, but I just hope that they will do shapes that could stand on their own without any projections to help America.

Guest Performance: Hot Chelle Rae "Tonight Tonight" - Is anyone else reminded of Michael Cera when staring at lead singer Ryan Follese? The performance wasn't here or there. At least the vocals weren't lip synced.

Eliminations, Part 2: Steven Retchless, Attack Dance Crew, Geechy Guy - Attack Dance Crew was rough around the edges and they didn't play up the black light aspect that they could have. Geechy Guy was subjective; on second viewing, it wasn't as funny.

Again, in a night of mediocre performances Steven made it through without the judges having to pick him. Steven's routine may have been a bit over the top and risky, but he now has time to tweak his performance. Seeing Steven in the results, he shouldn't have painted his face.

Eliminations, Part 3: Daniel Joseph Baker, Dani Shay, Dyllan Andre - Dani was pitchy and Dyllan was boring. It's a shame seeing that making fun of Justin Bieber was Dani's peak on this show. Daniel was fierce and made it through, proving again that America was a bit more open than I expected. Maybe Howie's suggestion of adjusting to Middle America was moot.

Guest Performance: Traces - So the gist of Traces is that they are the street version of Cirque Du Solei? They don't have to wear silly and somewhat scary clown outfits but instead focus on cool sequences. The parkour moves on the two stripper polls showed that men could do motions that were still very masculine, and Steven should be worried.

Eliminations, Part 4: Smage Brothers, Mona Lisa, Landon Swank - The three acts actually provided performances that were solid. Mona Lisa's performance sounded better in playback but with Daniel through, I thought that Mona Lisa would be redundant. I was reminded that the Smage Brothers routine looked just like last season's Jeremy VanSchoonhoven except with motors.

Landon had a great trick, but he seems destined for the Wild Card round. Mona Lisa was eliminated leaving the fourth and fifth place as Smage Brothes and Landon to the judges. The vote went to Sharon first and she voted for the Smage Brothers. Piers voted for Landon. We finally got to hear a third vote and Howie voted for the Smage Brothers.

Landon would be the only performer that deserves a second chance. His routine wasn't bad, but he needed to wow us and he didn't. The mirror routine would have fit perfectly between epic explosions and disappearing acts in a full Vegas show, but it didn't work for a 90 second performance. The only other group that deserves a second chance are the Rhinestone Ropers if they promise not to have the horse.

Celeb Gossip » So You Think You Can Dance Review: An All-Star Night

It seems like production value of So You Think You Can Dance went up this week in hopes that Nigel Lythgoe could get another Emmy nod.

A few extra camera pans in the beginning and increased set lighting, along with Cat Deeley's always cheeky hosting and guest judge Neil Patrick Harris' best fanboy comments, made for a fun night on the hit Fox competition.

The show definitely brought out the big guns, past and present, as the 10 remaining dancers competed to advance. Let's break down the performances ...

Marko & Chelsie: Samba (Jason Gilkison) - Just like on Dancing with the Stars, you just can't keep your eyes off of Chelsie and Jason made sure that there were sections where only Marko was dancing. The dance was filled with really hard choreography and Chelsie was swinging everywhere; while she kicked Marko in the head in practice, everything went perfect in the dance. Marko did a good job keeping up with Chelsie and that's all that he needed to do to succeed. My Grade: A-.

Sasha: Solo - While Sasha was a bit wobbly in her first pose, she upped the complexity of her solo this time around had a strong combination of ground work and aerial movements. Her solos have improved since she landed in the bottom three.

Jordan & Brandon: Contemporary (Dwight Rhodan & Desmond Richardson) - The dance was a run-on sentence of contemporary movements. Jordan looked effortless during the whole routine so the dance must have been catered to Jordan and Brandon's strengths. The side-by-side choreography was some of the strongest this whole season. Brandon did a great job supporting Jordan without stealing her spotlight. My Grade: A-.

Jess: Solo - Jess depended on his really strong spins and his dropping split. There was nothing wrong with the routine; he hasn't evolved his Broadway style. The best part of his performance was his interaction with Cat after his music ended.

Tadd & Comfort: Hip-Hop (Chuck Maldonado) - There's something hysterical about having the Asian performing to something yellow. Tadd was the focus of the routine. The two were a bit off during the Busta Rhymes lyrics, but it's pretty hard to choreograph to. My Grade: B-.

Melanie: Solo - There was something really cool about Melanie's execution. While the dance was difficult, it still looked effortless.

Mitchell & Melody: Broadway (Tyce Diorio) - Tyce wanted to do a "first class" Jazz/Broadway hybrid, but it was coach. I'm not a fan of Tyce's Fosse-inspired routines because it looked like knock-off choreography without the Fosse finesse. As much as the two were in sync, I couldn't help but look at Melody because Mitchell was dressed up like a generic flight attendant. My Grade: C+.

Ricky: Solo - Ricky aced his leaps and turns, his solos being the biggest reason he survived past his original partner Ryan. He needs a change of pace in his song selection.

Clarice: Solo - Clarice's sexy routine worked well, the minute work of her ponytail whipping was captivating. Her choreography shifted well when the tempo increased.

Caitlynn & Pasha: Argentine Tango (Miriam Larici & Leonardo Barrionuevo) - There was something great about seeing a tango that started off slow and picked up, even though it threw Neil Patrick Harris off. While I thought there was a point where Caitlynn tripped on her own shoe, Caitlynn never stumbled. Caitlynn's legs were flicking everywhere as Pasha supported her the whole way. The two had passion and didn't over perform. My Grade: A.

Mitchell: Solo - Mitchell choreographed a routine that built along with the music he chose. His spins were strong, but that was basically all that he did for his limited time.

Sasha & Twitch: Hip-Hop (Christopher Scott) - The dance was about a fizzled out relationship, where Sasha wanted to create passion over breakfast. Sasha's dancing was strong and the focus was all about Sasha. The dance, just like the Argentine Tango, had a great voyeuristic nature to it where it was just a couple rekindling their relationship. My Grade: A.

Jordan: Solo - Jordan finally showed us a routine that wasn't just sex kitten and this solo showed that she's actually a talented dancer. The routine felt a lot shorter because of how engaging the routine was.

Jess & Kathryn: Contemporary (Stacey Tookey) - The routine was everything that Jess needed: no eye contact so Jess couldn't mug for the camera and lifting heavy. Jess proved that he could do both. The routine was another Christina Perri song filled with emotion. The lifts looked effortless, though most performances that Kathryn does are wonderful to watch. I was so engaged that I forgot that Jess was shorter than Kathryn. My Grade: A.

Tadd: Solo - Tadd had an impressive break routine that used a lot of ground work, his lean off of the stage showed great strength. As the only B-Boy dancer left Tadd saves us from a sea of contemporary/jazz dancers.

Melanie & Pasha: Viennese Waltz (Jason Gilkison) - The routine was about nurturing an open-shirted Pasha. Melanie looked effortless during the routine that you forgot she was a contemporary dancer. I don't think I got the "supportive rock" theme, but Melanie's transitions between lifts and steps were great. The choreographers have been doing a great job with the lighting and effects and this dance was no exception. My Grade: A-.

Caitlynn: Solo - I didn't think that Caitlynn was powerful as the Florence + the Machine song that she selected. She fell out of her last spin sequence and as pretty of a girl as she was her routine was a bit generic.

Ricky & Allison: Jazz (Tyce Diorio) - The concept was about a bad dream and it shows that Tyce needs to stop doing Broadway routines. Ricky was effortless doing any of the lifts and jumps. The problem with the routine was the focus was all on Allison having a bad dream instead of Ricky controlling her. My Grade: B+.

Marko: Solo - Marko went with a lot of power and never ran out of steam. His leaps were great and the fact that he was last to do his solo and first to perform was a great bookend for performances.

Clarice & Robert: Bollywood (Nakul Dev Mahajan) - Since Nakul is the go-to guy for Bollywood routines, I'm happy he continues to push his own choreography. There were a lot of side-by-side work and both did great. While I didn't expect the kiss to be as integral in the choreography, it enhanced the routine. The intricacy of Bollywood was visually entertaining. My Grade: A.

With playback glitching, it might be interesting to see will be eliminated, since it may depend on who went last and if people even remember the first hour.

The deluge of Casey Anthony death threats continues.

The accused murderer herself is in hiding, and if this continues, people associated with her - such as attorney Cheney Mason - may want to follow suit.

Mason's wife called 911 Tuesday, claiming someone told her "Your scumbag husband and Baez [Casey's other attorney] better sleep with one eye open."

Following this and several other reported threats, officials in Seminole County will perform multiple drive-bys daily to make sure the Masons are safe.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is working with the State Attorney to acquire phone records to track down the callers. Listen to the 911 call here:

Jennifer Aniston's relationship with Justin Theroux is getting serious!

The men in her life - Theroux and her dad, John - bonded over lobster, wine and their love for Jen at Delmonico's Steak and Lobster House in L.A. recently.

Says a source at the restaurant:

"Jen's a regular here and normally very relaxed. This time she seemed more on edge. She was smiling, but you could tell this was a special event for her."

"John looked very protective of Jen, and when Justin went to the restroom, he put his hand on top of hers," reveals the eyewitness. "It was sweet."

Jen has long been estranged from her mom, Nancy, who wrote a book about their relationship, but values her father's approval more than anything.

John recently confided that the perfect guy for Jennifer has to be not only kind and caring, but "someone honest - honesty is very important."

Hopefully Theroux passed muster.

Weston Cage was arrested early Wednesday for felony domestic violence. The troubled son of Nic Cage was also arrested for DV earlier this month.

This time, Cage was arrested and then to a nearby hospital to be treated for cuts, injuries police believe - at least right now - were self-inflicted.

The mother of Weston's pregnant wife Nikki Williams, who he plans to divorce, says she is okay, and that "Nikki is safe and away from him."

Weston is still in custody on $50,000 bail, TMZ reports.

New legal drama for LiLo ... for the first time all week!

Lindsay Lohan is being sued. We know, huge shocker there.

This morning's plaintiff is Dawn Holland, the former Betty Ford staff member who got into a melee with LiLo last December, and whose account of what transpired that evening has been murky and ever-changing from the get-go.

According to Holland's lawsuit against Lohan, the star unleashed the fury when she tried to give Lindsay a breathalyzer test at the famous rehab center.

Dawn claims Lindsay Lohan was "combative and violent" when confronted after sneaking off site - allegedly to go boozing - then returning after curfew.

In the lawsuit, Holland claims Lohan grabbed her right wrist, "twisting and pulling it for 8-10 seconds," which caused her to seek medical treatment.

Holland alleges "mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering" from the attack she says Lohan committed, and is demanding $1 million. Minimum.

Here's the problem, though. It's now July. When she filed the initial incident report late last year, Holland never mentioned Lohan's alleged wrist grab.

She also stonewalled an investigation of Lohan at one point, practically defending Lindsay and refusing to cooperate ... then said she was assaulted.

Not to mention, Dawn was fired for blabbing about the incident, basically selling out a Betty Ford patient for a quick buck. Not a credible individual here.

As the winner proposed with a stunning modern-style 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond ring, with tears in her eyes, Ashley said yes! It was simply magical.

Unlike past seasons, in the months since the proposal, Ashley and her fiancé have been seeing each other and it's keeping their romance going strong.

"The producers have finally realized that keeping the couples apart is contributing to the quick dissolution of the relationships," an insider reports.

"So they're trying a different tactic with these two and letting them see each other more in the hopes they'll stay together for the long run."

So far the plan is working.

In fact, Ashley's already scoping out a move: "She's been talking about moving to where her fiancé lives in the next couple of months," a friend says.

And Ashley's fiancé feels the same way. A pal says that the winning Bachelor has been ecstatic since returning home from Fiji. Raves the pal:

"He always has a smile on his face. I asked him what it was like being on The Bachelorette, and he grinned and said, 'It changed my life.'"

Three Comic-Con "character cards" from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 have been unveiled in advance of the cast's appearance at the San Diego event, which kicks off today.

Bella (Kristen Stewart), Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) are each featured on two-sided cards with mini-bios.

The biographical information for Bella contains the heroine's full, married name (Isabella Marie Swan Cullen) for the first time, and officially unveils her long-sought status her part of the “Cullen Coven.”

Her date of transformation? Still TBD.

The card also contains a quote: “Yeah, I’m ready.” Enough. Said.

For Bella's special abilities, it says, "Her mind is impenetrable; no one can read her thoughts unless she allows it." Psychic attacks? Useless. Don't even front.

On Edward's card, little is new but his own sappy quote: “I’ve been waiting a century to marry you, Miss Swan.” That's a long ass time. As for Jacob Black?

His group listing actually contains two names: the Quileute Wolf Pack (a.k.a. Sam’s group) and then The Black Pack, his own new pack, headed by himself.

Appropriately, Jacob's defiant quote is: “I am the grandson of a chief. I wasn’t born to follow you or anyone else.” Not the lone wolf you wanna mess with.

A truce has been called among the Grammers.

Former spouses Camille and Kelsey have agreed to a temporary deal surrounding custody of their kids, which has been an ongoing point of contention.

The agreement indicates when Kelsey gets custody and where. Camille will apparently have both kids more often, but the deal was to his satisfaction and will accommodate his schedule, which is much busier.

Previous reports indicated that Kelsey wanted his son to be with him in Chicago, but not his daughter. Under the deal, the two will not be separated.

Kelsey also claimed Camille smells like beef jerky, but later blamed that on someone hacking his email, so you never really know with these two.

In any event, despite the deal, bigger discussions of money and permanent custody are still on the table and haven’t been amicably resolved yet.

While two deaths at his Coronado, Ca., mansion are still under investigation, Jonah Shacknai has hired a high-profile public relations agency, reports say.

Shacknai hired Sitrick and Company, a powerful PR firm out of L.A.

His six-year-old son Max suffered a fatal fall down the stairs last week, just two days before Jonah's girlfriend Rebecca Nalepa was found dead.

Coronado police have ruled the boy's death a tragic accident. The death of Rebecca Nalepa, also known as Rebecca Zahau, is a bigger mystery.

She was found hanging naked from a courtyard balcony of the same home. Police investigators cannot say if the case is a homicide or suicide.

The homicide unit awaits results from forensic evidence and toxicology tests. A search warrant was served but it's not clear what was found.

Among other things, investigators are interviewing anyone who might have spoken to Nalepa in the hours and days before her death.

Investigators have found no connection between the two deaths.

In the Nalepa investigation, department officials said, "We will go wherever the evidence takes us and will investigate however long it takes to make sure we get the facts right for Rebecca, her family and the public."

The firm hired by Shacknai is the best PR firm money can buy, with a client list 13 pages long and the founder considered "the king of spin."

The firm's clients included Michael Jackson, Paris Hilton and Major League Baseball.

An executive at Shacknai's company, Sitrick, said the pharmaceutical CEO hired them to help him as he grieves and takes care of two funerals.

Bachelor Pad. It's just too awesome to limit to an hour. Or two.

ABC has somehow decided that the second-season premiere of The Bachelor and Bachelortte competition spinoff will air from 8-11 p.m. August 8.

Yes, they’re devoting three hours to the show. “It’s like the Schindler’s List of The Bachelor franchise,” jokes an insider of the extra-long premiere.

Similar to our stance on Vienna, we're not gonna touch that one.

Gia Allemand will be back for a second stint in the Pad.

The show, which pits former Bachelor and Bachelorette stars against each other in a competition for $250,000, can thank Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi for their utter hatred of each other and unwillingness to relent in their quest for fame.

The pair got engaged on the finale of The Bachelor, only to flame out in epic fashion and give a must-see break-up interview a few months later.

Girardi is now dating another Pad resident, Kasey Kahl, which should only contribute to the drama at the famed L.A. mansion this summer.

Demi Lovato says her recovery from "emotional and physical issues" is an ongoing struggle, but one she's doing well with on a road to recovery.

In her new song, "Skyscraper," she sings about being torn down, but rising above adversity - a familiar topic from her real-life experiences.

"This is an ongoing process," she says. "The hardest part about these diseases is that they're things that I'm going to have to face every day."

Lovato, who may or may not be dating Ryan Phillippe, is definitely back on the music scene in a big way, with a renewed sense of confidence.

Since her three-month stay in rehab, she's come a long way in a fight with bulimia, anorexia, self-mutilation, depression and bipolar disorder.

"I'm going to mess up, and I'm not going to be perfect," she says.

"But as long as I try every day to get better and better myself, then I'm one step ahead of where I was before. They are issues that every girl deals with ... it doesn't help being in front of cameras while I'm trying to be in recovery.

So why not live a more private life? Because music helps her, she says, so the sacrifice of remaining in the public eye is one she's willing to make.

"I thought, 'Music is something that keeps me healthy and that has saved my life at one point,'" she says. "I love it, I'm not going to give it up."

Something tells me there’s so much money at stake that these little details won’t matter, but it looks like Arnold Schwarznegger and Maria Shriver have some more negotiation to do in their divorce.

According to TMZ, while Maria requested spousal support and that Arnold pay her attorney fees in her petition, in Arnold’s response he requested that Maria NOT be granted spousal support and that they each pay their own attorneys.

Since there’s no prenup, the combined worth of the couple is estimated to be about $400 million, and California requires 50/50 split of marital assets without a prenup, something tells me none of this will matter in the end.

Heading out to grab a bite to eat in the Big Apple heat, Taylor Swift ventured over to Market Table 54 in New York City on Wednesday (July 20).

The “You Belong With Me” beauty looked cute in a belted, coral dress and flats as she and her assistant arrived at the swanky restaurant while the paparazzi looked on.

Currently on tour, Ms Swift performed at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Tuesday evening.

Post concert, Taylor took to her Twitter wall to say, “Newark!!! What a crazy, off the hook, bouncy, loud, dancy crowd. I love you, Jersey crowds. Night 1 of 4!”

Celeb Gossip » “Breaking Dawn” Wakes Up Comic-Con

Kicking things off early, the stars of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” were on hand at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con this morning (July 21).

Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Julia Jones, Elizabeth Reaser, and Boo Boo Stewart were all spotted signing autographs at the Fan Wake-Up Call event outside the San Diego Convention Center.

From there it was all about Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, who all showed up for a very special Q&A session.

Of course there was plenty of talk about the forthcoming movie “Breaking Dawn Part I,” set to hit theaters on November 18th.
